AI Monitoring system for CAP based on ONDA at 26th MARS Conference
Serco will be participating in the 26th MARS Conference in Barcelona on 12-14 September with a presentation on the “AI Monitoring digital system for the new CAP legislation”.
In the context of the new “Real-time agricultural area monitoring system” regulation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) – which calls for a more continuous monitoring of agricultural activities by using the Sentinel images provided by the Copernicus program –, Serco shares the experience of the services provided for the French public authority Service and Payment Agency’s (ASP).
As part of the contract with ASP, Serco provides the latest cloud technologies through the ONDA cloud platform, including access to and storage of mass satellite data, computing power for analysis based on Artificial Intelligence techniques and task automation. The overall system, called AI Monitoring, interfaces with the existing information system in charge of checking farmers declarations, by providing the results of the analysis of the Earth Observation imagery.
The presentation aims to describe the concept of the system by addressing the industrial challenges, such as the management and access to massive volumes of data, and by focusing on the AI-based services to extract and optimise the information. The experience developed with the provision of the AI Monitoring digital system proves to be an added value in the implementation of the new European regulation for the CAP.
