ONDA 4 Education training event
In the frame of ONDA 4 Education – our service for users interested in learning how to process Copernicus Sentinel data using the ONDA infrastructure –, a training event was organized in collaboration with the DotSPACE foundation on 14-16 June 2022.
In preparation for the workshop, a few weeks before participants were invited to attend the Introduction to ONDA webinar. Then on the first day of the event, we provided a demo on how to use our platform, followed by a training session focused on a real use case: the use of Copernicus Sentinel-5P data for air pollution, comparing how the NOx concentrations in Europe changed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Participants were provided with exclusive access to their own ONDA Virtual Machines, and they had the chance to perform the exercises shown in the demonstration.
After the first day, they were given the opportunity to keep practicing the acquired skills using the ONDA resources for 2 days, with our technical and scientific support when required. The event was then closed by a short final webinar on 16 June.
For this training event, participants were selected by DotSPACE from the EU-funded SKIES (Skilled, Innovative and Entrepreneurial Scientists) project, that aims to provide PhD and first year postdoctoral researchers in the field of astronomy with a new set of skills, integrating open science, innovation and entrepreneurship, with a special focus on education and capacity building.
We are particularly happy to have contributed to this project, further confirming our mission to enable and promote access to Earth observation data and to the latest technologies, and we look forward to the next ONDA 4 Education training events.
