Politecnico di Torino using ONDA for multiple initiatives
The Politecnico di Torino and ITHACA, a non-profit association founded by Politecnico di Torino, have been using ONDA DIAS since the end of 2018. The ONDA platform is being tested as a solution to integrate and improve different ITHACA’s operational workflows: ONDA advanced APIs have been used to search, process and publish data, including the creation of datasets for the purpose of automatic extraction of information through Deep Learning algorithms.
This testing phase has laid the foundation for the ongoing discussions on the possible adoption of ONDA DIAS by the SDG11Lab, an initiative of the Politecnico di Torino’s Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST), having the mandate to create an infrastructure capable of ensuring efficient access to reference geospatial data sources (e.g. remotely sensed data, in-situ data, etc.) and of integrating them with thematic data by means of analysis and representation tools. The final objective is to address the needs of various users with different geomatics skills and fields of interest: this objective will be pursued through the integration of existing operational solutions (image and spatial data catalogues, cloud resources, web services) with specifically developed tools.
Furthermore, Politecnico di Torino is considering the ONDA 4 Education service to provide existing and new courses in the geomatic domain with effective instruments for teaching code development and process automation.
