H2020 projects with ONDA

Two  projects funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, EOPEN and MOSES, have joined forces with ONDA to implement a use case for the purpose of improving water management strategies.

The EOPEN platform aims to support both non-expert and expert users access and exploit Copernicus data through a federated platform framework, allowing for big data analytics.

EOPEN is agnostic regarding data access and cloud provider, still it makes use of ONDA. Also, an ONDA Virtual Machine is hosting an instance of EOPEN at the project final stage.

MOSES’s objective is to put in place a platform devoted to irrigation water procurement and management agencies (e.g. reclamation consortia, irrigation districts, etc.) to improve irrigation water resources management.

The use case on MOSES Crop Water Demand, one of the MOSES’s modules, shows how the combined use of these three platforms – EOPEN, MOSES and ONDA – can be successfully applied to provide detailed and accurate information within everyone’s reach.

In this context, ONDA is used as the Cloud computing platform on which MOSES, having gathered data from EOPEN, runs its calculations on water distribution needs, therefore contributing to the creation of a powerful and flexible virtual computing system.

The aim of the video below is mainly to show to general public, the innovative working environment, and to irrigation experts the possibility to select modules and methods already implemented in MOSES jointly with some other methods implemented locally.
