ONDA contributes to award assigned to Flanders Department of Agriculture and Fisheries
We are very pleased to announce that the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of Flanders has won the Belgium eGOV awards in the category Innovation thanks to the support provided by the ONDA CAP monitoring service, with a project named “Use of GEO AI for crop detection and automatic interpretation of aerial photos”.
In June 2020 the European Commission, the Joint Research Centre and ESA have assigned to ONDA the task to support both the Department of Agricultural and Fisheries of the Government of Flanders and the Department of Agriculture of the Walloon Public Service in monitoring the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy over their territories through the exploitation of the Sentinels data.
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the policy of the European Union that implements a system of agricultural subsidies with the aims at improving the European agricultural productivity.
The ONDA platform, by means of its cloud solutions and the large Earth observation data catalogue, which includes Copernicus Sentinels data, is the infrastructure in which the data processing system generating the products in support of the CAP monitoring activities is fully integrated.
